Exclusive movements and qualities

ORBITAL generation machines are characterized by oscillatory motion, which is given by the synergy of the transverse movement of the bridges (Y-axis), together with the longitudinal movement of the spindles-bridges (X-axis). In ORBITAL polishing machines, in fact, there is no longer a single oscillating bridge, but several bridges on which the spindles move individually, making multi-axis movements, similar to those performed during manual processing with the so-called “manettone” that replicates an Orbital movement, also used with affirmation in mirror polishing of car bodies.

Spindle translation motors and drive unit

Each spindle on ORBITAL polishing machines has a specific motorization that allows it to move independently. The motors, located outside the machine to prevent contact with dust and water, impart motion to the spindle through a rack-and-pinion transmission system. The spindles also move smoothly and precisely through the use of recirculating ball guide systems. The towing unit that imparts motion to the conveyor belt is driven by an external gear motor controlled by an inverter. The machine is supplied with a granite-specific belt with non-slip sculpting. The high-strength, multi-ply belt can conveniently be tensioned, when necessary, in manual mode.

Spindles

ORBITAL spindles have been designed with an emphasis on performance and reliability, depending on the virtually continuous operation of the spindles on the material. All components, such as the motor, shaft and toothed belt transmission system, have been carefully sized and engineered to withstand the heaviest workloads. Of note is the use of removable domes, made of ABS, which allow access to the drive shaft for performing routine inspection and maintenance operations.

Electronics and software

The flexibility offered by the ORBITAL polishing machines’ independent spindle solution requires control and management power; for this reason, SIMEC engineers have equipped the machine with high-level hardware and software components that allow the operator to control and modify, directly color touch-screen panel that equips the machine, the main working parameters such as: belt speed, translation speed, excursion and slowing down at the edge of the slab of each individual spindle, polishing reprocessing areas, etc., thus allowing the operator to choose the most suitable working strategies for each type of material.

Software

The machine’s software, specially developed by SIMEC, facilitates the processing of all types of materials, enabling even those without specific know-how to achieve excellent results. The availability of an important material database allows simply choosing what needs to be polished, leaving the machine to automatically adjust all processing parameters. More experienced operators, of course, have the option of customizing every aspect of the work.

Operating costs and sustainability

Providing polishing machines that contain the consumption of abrasive in relation to the quality of polish supplied, thus reducing the amount of waste materials, as well as containing the amount of electricity and water used in lapping, are aspects that contribute significantly both to the economic results of companies that choose our products and to the protection of the environment. It is for this reason that SIMEC has for years been committed to a path of continuous innovation aimed at the maximum containment of operating costs of its machines and plants. In commitment that also represents a serious and responsible attention to the environment and to the future of the planet that hosts us.

The Highest Quality

To effectively overcome the typical limitations of traditional single-bridge machines, SIMEC presents to the market the ORBITAL series polishing machines, which possess independent and independent movements of each spindle. The improvements that can be achieved in terms of results by employing ORBITAL polishing machines are substantial and concern the elimination of so-called “shadow effects,” greater uniformity of the result produced, no shinier outer bands, and an overall increase in polishing productivity and quality.
